This pictorial is handwoven on a loom with 100% cotton yarn and cotton batik fabric printed on the island of Java, now part of the Indonesian archipelago.  Three different fabrics are deconstructed and the individual strips are laid into the warp yarns threaded on the loom. The result is a sampler of some of the traditional batik patterns printed on the island.  The weave pattern is an inlay technique known as Theo Moorman tapestry technique.  The piece itself measures 7" X 12" and it is mounted onto a twill fabric over a stretched cotton canvas measuring 11" X 14". It is backed with a dust cover and is wired for hanging.
