weaving.  Classes at  the MemphisWeaver studio can accommodate up to 4 students.
MemphisWeaver is able to take the studio "on the road" to your home or facility for
small group classes of up to 12 students.  Traveling classes have been presented at
schools, churches, community centers, senior centers and retirement communities.
Private lessons are also available.

All ages and levels of ability are encouraged to register for a class and weave
something wonderful to take home to share with your family and friends.  No
previous weaving experience is necessary for any of the classes described below.

OFF LOOM WEAVING

In this 3 week class, students will meet once a week to understand the "under and
over " process of needle weaving.  Students can choose to weave a small
3-dimensional ornament such as the one pictured, or weave  a pin or pendant for a
necklace.

FRAME LOOM WEAVING

In this beginning class, students will learn the basics of weaving, and weave a
textured "tapestry" on a prepared frame loom.  Students will mount their finished
piece on a fabric board for wall display.  Classes meet once a week for 3 weeks

INKLE LOOM WEAVING

Students will learn how to set up or "warp" an inkle loom and weave a narrow
band.  Students will decide how to finish their bands from a choice of a belt, small
purse, guitar strap, or dog collar/leash. Classes meet once a week for 4 weeks.

RIGID HEDDLE LOOM WEAVING

Using a traditional rigid heddle loom, students will prepare a "warp" on the loom
and weave their choice of a purse or scarf.  Classes meet once a week for 4
weeks.
